These are things you don’t think about cleaning often. However, your cell phone has 300 times more bacteria than a school or office toilet handle!  Children, in particular, tend to pass their phones around multiple times every day. Many take it with them to the bathroom, Regular household cleaners and cloth or paper towels can wear away the anti-smudge coating on the screen and even leave little scratches in the glass. This gives germs a place to hide.

The best way to clean these items is with a homemade cleaner and disinfectant. Mix equal parts distilled water (don’t use tap or even filtered water, it contains minerals and will leave behind a residue.) and then add 70% isopropyl alcohol. Mix this in a small spray bottle and each night spritz a micro-fiber cloth and wipe these items down. Do not spray directly on the screens.  Be sure you buy the alcohol that states 70% on the label.

One last fact to get in the mood and habit of cleaning these items- Researchers found fecal matter on one in six phones! And you thought the nastiest part of your phone was paying the bill!Fart-reaction-665x385
